The
Venue
The
venue 'Ellmore' is a mixed farming property which has
been owned by the Dwyer family since 1868 and for much of that time has been
renowned for fine harness horses.
Since 1972 it has been a 'hub' of harness activity, hosting the first modern
driving event, plus 10 more major events and many instructional schools
in the following years. The
picturesque undulating country is perfect for driving...
The Main Arena and most of the Marathon is in a natural ampitheatre providing
exceptional vantage points for the marathon obstacles.

In
mid-November
the weather is usually fine and pleasantly warm and the district's many crops,
orchards and vineyards are looking at their best.
The
town of Young is 130km north west of Canberra and 388km south
west of Sydney. The surrounding district has a population of 12,500
and in addition to all the usual rural pursuits it produces 50% of Australia's
cherry crop.
The
diverse and colourful Cherry Festival commencing the third week in
November is the town's major tourist attraction.
